Divi 5 Alpha Is Here... | Lemonade Design Co

Divi 5 has officially entered public Alpha, and it’s already turning heads. With a complete rewrite under the hood, this next-generation builder from Elegant Themes promises faster performance, cleaner code, Flexbox layouts, and powerful new features, all while maintaining backward compatibility.

I’ve been testing it out by rebuilding a copy of a live client website, JB Account Services, to see how it compares to my usual go-to, Kadence. The results? Very impressive.

Why I Rebuilt JB Account Services with Divi 5

As a web designer, I wanted to explore the new ground-up architecture of Divi 5. So, I created a development copy of the JB Account Services site and used that to test how Divi 5 performs in real-world conditions.

Rebuilding it served two key purposes:

Real-world testing: Layouts, navigation, styling, and interactions, all stress-tested on a genuine project, with zero risk to the live site.
Performance comparison: A clean rebuild using Flexbox, fewer shortcodes, and more efficient code gave me a clear picture of how Divi 5 stacks up against both its predecessor and Kadence.

What’s New in Divi 5?

As part of my ongoing testing and exploration, I’m planning to:

Test advanced WooCommerce modules as they’re released, as that doesn’t work yet
Replace JB’s legacy modules as compatible marketplace plugins catch up
Monitor builder stability through the upcoming Beta phases
Try a full conversion of an older Divi 4 site to Divi 5 to evaluate how well legacy content and layouts transfer
